Today marks one year since occupied Kashmir has been under lockdown and curfew.
We can’t last a few months in lockdown,, even if we leave our houses we aren’t in fear of being killed. Imagine being in lockdown for a year,, with a fear of being killed if you step outside your house.
This cannot be justified as right or ethical at all. It’s an example of islamophobia in our society. 67% of people in Jammu and Kashmir are Muslims. These Muslims are being killed,, 8 million people cut off from the world, with their internet shutdown and their networks shut down. A soldier stationed outside every house in some villages, pharmacies running out of medicine, households running out of food and hospitals swamped with injured protesters. Any kind of reasons PM Modhi gives are not enough to justify this. Beaten if they go out, stuck in their homes.. these are humans, living creatures how can any of us let this happen? Fathers are being killed, sons are being tortured, mother’s widowed and robbed of their children, young girls not being able to go out or a have a voice due to the mysoginistic beliefs.
This is not a Muslim issue, this is not a Kashmiri issue, it’s a human issue and if we are aware of it we have a responsibility to help in any way possible. Be it signing a petition, writing a letter to a head, donating money or raising awareness.
We must help those in need!
